Amenorrhea whilst breastfeeding

My daughter is 8 months old and I was able to exclusively breastfeed her from birth. She is now on solid food and loves it – so much so she’s cut down her breastfeeds during the day substantially but still feeds throughout the night as we cosleep. As a result, I still have not had my period return since pregnancy.
When I had my son (who is now 3 and a half), my period did not return until I stopped feeding him throughout the night, which was when he was 13 months. I love breastfeeding and I’m in no hurry to stop feeding my daughter through the night in order to get my periods back.
My question is, is it worth just starting to track my mood each day, even though I have no cycle to work within? I feel like I should just focus on the life coaching part of the Flow Collective (and therefore start with Module 4 of Harness your Hormones and skip 1 – 3) until my period returns. I have read Maisie’s book and so have an understanding of the cycle strategy. But I definitely feel ‘hormonal’! As in I feel like there may be something to discover in my emotions at the moment – but I don’t know how relevant to the cycle strategy I am right now.

Answer:

What do you want to do? Tracking your mood could be very simple and give you good information even without your having a period yet. You also can just wait until your period comes back and start then. Either choice will be perfect. It’s interesting that your brain is seeing mood tracking as a lot of work or a waste of your time/energy. Whenever you feel resistance or confusion about something, check in and look at what’s actually happening in your mind.
There is so much goodness in TFC. Start where ever you want. I like the thought “I’m getting exactly what I need.” whenever I am in a course or coaching program. Check out Maisie’s Pep Talks, there are a few that will be just what you need. Bring any questions or models that come up as you explore this back for more coaching.
