Hello! My summer goal is to better manage my energy levels and I would like feedback on the goal and my rocks.
I’ve chosen this goal because I find myself feeling absolutely drained quite often, which is unpleasant and unkind to myself. I’ve considered this goal previously, but it used to be a very “dirty” goal: I wanted to better manage my energy so I could accomplish more. Through therapy I’m no longer so focused on trying to accomplish more. Instead, I want to better manage my energy levels so I can do more of what fulfills me and less of what I think I’m obligated to do, ultimately leading to a life that is more for me. I am unsure that there is a strong difference between these two approaches, so I would like guidance on how to make sure I’m approaching this goal in a “clean” way.
My rocks are: 1. make lists of things that drain my energy and replenish my energy; 2. put these lists into practice by doing more replenishing things and reducing draining things; 3. continue to examine and work on my common anxious thoughts. I really like the first rock and the second is a good application (since the goal is to achieve something, not just learn about it). I don’t think the third rock is specific enough.
Thank you for the coaching in advance!
Answer:
When you say, ‘Work on my common anxious thoughts,” what does that mean to you? Do you want to identify them? Counteract them? Sometimes when we reframe our rocks into what we want to be doing it can take a much more specific tone. For example: ‘identify anxious thoughts and their triggers’ or, ‘work on creating new, believable and calming thoughts’. What do you think would make this more specific to your goal? When you reply, title your submission, “Managing rocks and goals part 2”.
