Very insightful haha! I do absolutely want to get writing faster and less perfectly, because I know it will increase the opportunities I get to do pieces, my experience and the impact I can have with my work. As well as increasing my income dramatically.
I notice it in my ideas and pitching process to – i’ll make note of ideas then never submit them…
I would like to bringing some messy massive action into my new freelance process this year – with both pitching and writing pieces, and networking with people in the industry too.
(It’s a theme with my use of social media, too – which is no necessary for work – where I delay posting things then miss the boat on it).
Do you have any tips on thoughts I can use to cut through the perfectionism, and spurr me into action around this?
I’ve heard things before like, ‘it’s better to get it writ than right’. But I think there’s also something in feeling safe enough to be messy, and trusting myself that my 80% is probably still pretty amazing.. In fact I think self-trust might be at the heart of it. Last year felt like a ‘can i?’ question was hanging over it all, as it was my first year freelancing. This year I’m going into it with more of an ‘i can!’ because I’ve proven myself I can do it…
Any tips on harnessing that energy much appreciated!
Thank you

Self trust is always at the heart of it, you’re right on with that! Keep exploring your idea of messy. You get to define it however you want. You also can throw out that belief entirely. What word or visual would help you overcome the perfectionism obstacle and get your work out into the world?
