Im struggling with feeling the authenticity behind my charting because I have just started taking Sertraline a week or ten days before my period to try to treat pmdd. I have just started and im in the part of my cycle when I would usually be feeling all the horrid pmdd symptoms and Im feeling pretty good. I don’t know if its a placebo or if its the effects but this is how I feel. So I suppose Im wondering if the charting I would be doing would be invalid because my true state might be masked by the medication?
thank you!
Answer:
When something feels good when we’ve historically experienced as bad, it’s easy to think that what we’re experiencing is invalid. Let’s look at your model:
C: Sertraline 7-10 days before period to treat pmdd
T: My charting might be invalid

A:
R: Invalidate my experience
When you think, “My charting might be invalid,” you likely create a result that invalidates your experience. Can you see how that is happening here? Do you think it’s possible for you to consider this experience valid? If so, what thoughts would lead you there? Try doing a thought download and filling this model in…
