Difference between therapy and life coaching

I’m sure this is a regular question, but I just wanted to clarify Maisie’s perspective on the difference between therapy and life coaching? I’ve had lots of talking therapy and some CBT but this is my first experience of life coaching (and I’m loving it by the way!)

Answer:

Welcome! Yes, this is a common question because life coaching is relatively new and there are so many different people who are life coaches with various tools because it is an unregulated industry. The Model we use was created by Brooke Castillo and it does have similarities to CBT in that both agree that our thoughts create our feelings. Therapy is generally more appropriate if someone is not functioning well and wants to get back to baseline. Life coaching is most appropriate if someone is doing ok but they want to be better. Or they want to improve a certain area of their lives, like how they relate to their cycle. In TFC you get all of Maisie’s expertise in so many areas. The important thing is that you know what you want to get from being here. What is the result you are looking for? Why are you here? Set your intention, commit to the process and you will get exactly what you need.
