Energy levels – My tussle over energy levels and procrastination

Hi – help! Even as I begin to frame my question I have been stop start in my need to frame the ‘perfect’ question to ‘fit’ the model – I have been in the TFC for several months now and am still a bit lost over the ‘intentional’ ‘unintentional’ models – please signpost me where I can find this info -, I have seen it /heard it but cannot seem to find it again.?! Or clarify for me?
So here goes with just giving it a go with my ‘imperfect’ messy question: I have been working through various layers and discovering my people pleasing is deep rooted, but awareness/ noticing is helping to change my this. I am having an ongoing tussle with myself over my energy levels – need to rest – vs procrastination. I seem to be regularly having a fight with myself about pushing my business forward, especially what I need to do to create a client base. Some of this for me is Something around standing tall, being seen, Trusting I have value as a coach. Feedback from my clients would suggest I do…. But My circumstance is I currently have no new fee paying coaching clients.
I have left the career I have had for 20 years, the certainty of income for the freedom and flexibility of self employed – I am building a new flexible working life balance in the autumn of my life – perimenopausal, HRT adjusting, cycle shifting, – after 3 months cycle tracking I thought I had it mapped in the calendar of my seasons, but then this month my cycle was way shorter that has thrown me off. !! Moods, emotions – energy levels all over the place!!
So, from TFC I get that thoughts create feelings but where do energy levels fit into this model? How do I find the way to listen and honour my cycle, my autumn phase as I redefine and redesign my work life balance, having left burnout career models behind. All wrapped up with a cloak of productivity / economic value vs rest… how do I find my balance of rest vs take some action – mass or just any – to step me towards the outcomes I want to see – earning from my newly fledged coaching business!
Is it all linked? That’s a big unclear imperfect question. I will try to slim it down… how do I work with / learn the difference between my energy levels, and need to rest vs procrastination and what’s holding me back. Is my mindset – thoughts… creating feelings.. that are affecting my energy levels – is that my procrastination showing up? Not taking action to create income from my own business.
I also know perfectionism/ procrastination go hand in hand , so how to make progress and get past these 2 best friends, my blocker, vs is my need for rest, low energy levels – or is this just procrastination showing up in another shape?! How do I unpick/ unpack/ uncover what my blockers are?!
there imperfect, messy question… hope you can work with it ?! submit….

Answer:

We love it when you show up exactly as you are – however messy it feels to you, we can assure you it’s not to us. I can’t tell you what exactly is affecting your energy levels, but I can help you understand how they fit in to the model. Your energy levels are a circumstance. Nobody can deny that they exist (because we’re humans and we all have them).
Here is the model I would build based on your submission…
C: Low energy level
T: I don’t know if I’m procrastinating or truly needing rest
F: Confused
A: Fight with myself on how to push my business forward, don’t define what rest vs. procrastination is in my mind, what else do you/don’t you do?
R: I continue to live in a state of “I don’t know” and I never truly rest
How does this land for you? (PS, you can find more on models in the Model Workshop webinar under the Bonuses tab of The Flow Collective member site. Here is the link: https://theflowcollective.co/bonus-courses-dashboard/ and, keep your eyes on your calendar as we will be hosting model-focused calls specifically so Flow-ers can get more model practice!).
Because you are human, you are going to continue to have energy levels. What will define what you do and how you treat yourself when your energy drops is dependent on your thoughts. A good place to start would be taking time to reflect on the differences between procrastination and rest in your mind. How do you know when you’re resting? How do you know if you’re procrastinating? Think about the body sensations, emotions, and thoughts you experience when you’re in either state. What comes up for you when you do this exercise?
