I would love to discover a feeling of doubt and envy to see it then differently.
I’ve been experiencing doubt and envy, and I’m having thoughts like: Will I miss out? Will my friend be better than me? Did I make the wrong decision?
I’m doubtful I made the ‚right‘ decision’ in my new education. My gut feeling told me to enroll in this kind of institution, and now my friend has also decided to do the training and enrolled in another institute, which is more expensive. I doubt myself and envy her, which only appeared when my friend made her decision. Since then, I have had these comparative, competitive feelings.
I would love to know where this is coming from and how I can see it differently.
Answer:
Great question. Figuring out the root of your feelings is so powerful. The first step really is awareness. The way to get it is to start answering your questions in a thought download. Get a pen and paper and write down everything you think about your education and your friend’s. Take the questions you asked and answer them. As you do this do not judge, do not edit, just let everything out of your brain and onto paper. The goal is to see what’s happening in your brain. It is offering you many thoughts that are creating the envy and doubt.
Once you have this big thought download, you can take a few thoughts and put them into models. Notice how your brain wants to tell you that it’s your friend’s enrollment that is causing these feelings, but this is just a circumstance that prompted your brain to have a lot of thoughts. Check out the model workshop if you haven’t yet to walk through each step and see what you’re creating.
here is an example:
C: (friend’s name) is enrolled in (program name)
T: what do you think about that?
F: how does that thought make you feel?
A: what do you do or not do when you are feeling this way?
R: what is your result?
See what comes up and bring back your questions or models. It’s important not to skip the awareness part, that alone will help you very much as you get ready to let go of the doubt and envy if that’s what you want.
