Thank you for the last piece of coaching on this. I added to the model you pulled out and then created an IM.
UM
C: Colleagues say words about idea
T: I am a less good employee than them
F: Undervalued
S: Gut tenses, shoulders tighten and hunch forwards, throat tenses, lightheaded
A: Don’t fight my corner, give away my power, invalidate my ideas and creativity, reject my contributions, procrastinate, switch between tasks without completing them
R: I don’t show up as the kind of employee I know I can be
IM
C: Colleagues say words about idea
T: I am enough
F: Empowered
S: Chest puffs out, feel taller, heart space opens
A: Fight my corner, back my ideas, champion and nourish my creativity, start and finish tasks
R: I show up as the kind of employee I want to be
There is a potential opportunity to be courageous during my 1:1 this week with my line manager, and also during an all day meeting with my boss and colleague. The second meeting will be where the most courage is needed as they are strong personalities and especially my boss has a tendency to push hard for their own ideas. This could be a great place for me to practice being courageous and if I think we should go a certain way and there is pushback I can take a breathe, tell myself I am enough and then make my case from that place. Rather than getting defensive or shutting my idea down and not speaking up.
I really want to play with the “I am enough” thought generally at work to help me to feel more motivated and engaged.
