Get it done – what’s coming up

Hi coaches
My goal for Get It done is to complete an online 12 week parenting course. I signed up to it months ago and have paid for it so it would be brilliant to get it done! Also I think it will help in lots of other ways in terms of my parenting / connecting with my children , my mental and physical health.
When completing the work book and thinking about the steps needed I wrote:
1. Access course
2. Find course book
3. Allocate time each week to spend on course – reading, listening to audio, mindfulness activities and homework
DO THE COURSE AT SCHEDULED TIME
4. Write notes
5. Find folder
6. Print notes
7. Put in folder
I wonder if I’m being too rigid about doing it at a specific time each week and also about having all the notes in a folder etc. to feel it’s done. Be interested to get feedback.
I also feel slightly activated by the thought I’ve only just listened to Maisie’s Workshop and it’s the 13th June – I’m having thoughts like ‘i’m behind already’ ‘maybe I’ll just skip the workbook’ ‘maybe I’ll not do it this time’ ‘this is going to be so stressful’ and then feeling angry.

The best way to find out is to give it a try. Action always brings clarity. What if you committed to your plan as it is, and decided to evaluate after this month? Also, be on to your brain. Isn’t it interesting that it comes up with all kinds of obstacles when you start working towards a goal? Why do you think it’s doing that? How could these micro goals you’ve wonderfully created help you overcome these obstacles?
What do you think is underneath your anger? Often anger is covering up another emotion we really are uncomfortable with. See if you notice any patterns you’ve seen before in your life as you approach this goal. Give yourself lots of compassion AND remember: you get to decide who you want to be. Start today. The past can give us insights but it doesn’t box us in.
