Goal – garden beds and pergola

Hi,
I’d like to explore this goal further and so have given it its own AAC title.
The goal is –
Goal Three (this has been put off for 2 years!)
Get my wooden raised beds and pergola treated/ woodstained
Rocks
– get coached on the procrastination/ fears
– identify what type of tradesperson is needed
– contact 3 tradespeople for a quote
– choose a person and book the work
Answer:
Okay, let’s start with goal 3. It deserves a chef’s kiss. No question about that. Your rocks are actionable, great rocks to proceed with and set out a very clear path, and we should absolutely do coaching on the procrastination and fears!
Thanks the the chefs kiss!
I am struggling to know why I’m procrastinating for so long, especially as a few years ago I had more momentum in getting work done in our house and garden. I think its the quoting stage I’m avoiding. I don’t like phone calls (neurodivergent thing) and also find the initial time the person is coming to the house pretty unnerving. They always seem to want to come after they’ve finished work for the day to do their quotes, and thats when I’m either feeding my kids dinner or getting set to go out to work. I also struggle with the idea of getting 3 different quotes – which I think is a good idea, to see the different prices – but thats 3 people coming, and I also then feel obliged to say yes to their work, or feel awkward turning them down.
So actually I’m not struggling to know why I’m procrastinating now that I’ve written it all down, seems like I have quite a lot of thoughts getting in the way. and then I end up thinking I’ll put it off until next month.
Coaching very much welcomed, so I can get this project sorted once and for all before all the wood in the garden rots!

It sounds like the resistance to getting the initial quotes has a lot to do with tolerating or embracing discomfort, and it’s an opportunity to get even more familiar with your relationship to discomfort in order to gain momentum.
How can you prepare yourself to feel discomfort and care for yourself in the aftermath? Remember, you get to set the timeline, there is no rush, and there is no wrong way to do this.
