I’ve worked myself into the ground (at home and work) and I’ve even had counselling for it following a serious illness which was probably brought in my over work earlier this year. Yet I still do it! How do I break this pattern?
Answer:
The first thing to do when you’ve identified something you want to change is to love yourself fully and completly right where you are. The parts of you that overwork, the parts that burn out. The part that can’t figure out how to stop or why you keep doing this. Love the parts of you that think you’re broken and need fixing. You are not broken. You are a human. You probably have a wonderful reason for overworking. How do you think it serves you to stay in this pattern?
Thank yourself for doing your very best. You did the best you could with what you knew how to do. Now you have TFC and things are going to start to shift.
Do a thought download of all the things you’ve been saying to yourself that are not very kind. For each one, give yourself love. Be gentle. See what comes up as you take your first healing steps and bring it back for more coaching. As you watch the resources here in TFC be on the look out for ways to love yourelf unconditionally. When you give your brain a job it will do it so be open to what it notices.
