I don’t remember names and faces Part 2

Thanks for the great coaching on this. I had a go at the 12 creative ways to use a shoe – which was a slow start, but then I got to have some funny ideas like using it as a home for pets, or as a weapon if I was attacked! I can see how the exercise is helpful to starting to think creatively.
I then came up with the 12 ways I could match names to faces in my classes. I think I have 3 potential helpful things I could implement,
1- being upfront when I initially book them in and say that it takes me a while to learn faces and names, so I would love them to email me a photo of themselves when they send through their health form. I do think some people might feel self conscious about this, but also hopefully a few of the group would do it.
2. When I set up the usual Whatsapp broadcast group for the class, there will be many people on their who have a photo as their profile, even though it will be small, it might help in identifying them against their name.Equally if they first enquire about the class through social media there is often a small profile picture next to their name which could also help.
3. I have floor markers for where people should lay their Pilates mat, so we use the space effectively and 9 times out of 10, wheerever a person goes their first session they tend to always gravitate back to that same spot – so I thought for the first class, I could have a sheet of paper with the spaces marked on it, and when the person arrives and they choose a spot and I ask their name, i could write it on my paper, so I have something to refer to the following week.
Whilst non of the solutions will be “perfect” if I implemented all 3 then I think I’d have a good chance of being able to know most people by name by the end of the term. So that has definitely helped to ease some of my concerns about starting a new group.
In terms of the part populated model you gave, I’ve filled it in:
C: Considering setting up a new Pilates class
T: I can’t match up faces with names
F: fear (I think there could also be another model with the thought about there being something wrong with me that I struggle with this, and the feeling of shame)
S: scrunched up face, feeling of wanting to back away
A: Delay progressing setting up a class, think in circles about ways that I could do this without finding a solution that works, repeat and ingrain the thought that I can’t match faces and names, berate myself for not being able to do this.
R: Fear prevents me initiating setting up a new class.
I feel happy that I have a few potential solutions to the issue, but perhaps you think there is some more worthwhile coaching here?
thank you

Answer:

Another Result could be R: I don’t have any faces or names to learn.
Notice how the fear of not being able to do something has guaranteed that you won’t. Why do you think your brain wants to keep you stuck here going in circles? How is it serving you?
Congratulations of coming up with so many ideas and narrowing them down. I want to throw out one other thought, see what comes up when you explore it.  What if you don’t have to learn their names at all? What could that look like?
