As suggested I have made a list of ways to create a feeling of safety and time for myself during my upcoming job interview. Here is what I’ve got so far:🖊 Take a breath-sized pause before beginning each answer.
🖊Lead into each response with short preface that will provide context for my answer and lead my mind towards the most relevant topic.
🖊Keep body centred and open with somatic gaze focus and gentle finger pressure.
🖊Pace myself during responses using clarifying questions, breath control and specific focus on points that I feel most positive about.
Do you think I am on the right track with these?
Answer:
The most powerful part is that you think you are on the right track. Do you? As you look through your list and imagine yourself following these steps in the interview, what do you feel in your body? It may be a mix of things as you’ll still have that pre-interview nervousness but you can practice your techniques now and try them out. You can also make some models with thoughts about your plan. Think of a skydiver getting ready to jump. They will have butterflies in their stomach but when they trust their parachute and their safety plan it’s a whole different experience than if they don’t. What’s most important going into the interview is you trusting you. The rest we can give to the Universe.
