Irritable for no reason 2

Thank you for your reply. I do not have a cycle as I am post menopausal so don’t have that excuse! I probably was a bit stressed about going away the next day without realising it. I will engage the nervous system ladder more often and rewatch the video. A good result is that I accept reality, thank you. As you say I could start with the thought, as I do tend to resist change and see that things are getting worse instead of better, especially as “they” seem to want to make life harder for us, and I can start to embrace change and learn how to use new technologies and not fall into an old person’s mindset of things were better in the olden days.
C – There are no cashiers only self service tills (or any other new technology that I have tried to avoid so far)
T – Let’s give it a go and maybe learn something
F – Anticipation
S – Tingly
A – Have a go and see if I can get it to work
R – Change my entire outlook on life
I do seem to have a lot of rules that I live my life by, and they are restricting. Like I don’t like shopping. Why don’t I like shopping? I don’t like shopping on a Sunday – what’s that about? I don’t like self service tills, I don’t like travelling at night, I don’t like going to busy places etc. etc. I will start to challenge these thoughts when I see them come up.

This sounds like a great model to try out in real time. I wonder if the result is that you definitely learn something, including how to have a new outlook on life. What do you think? What are some low stakes situations in which you can practice this kind of model so that when you really need it (say at a self-service till), you’ve already laid your foundation for using it?
I wonder if there is a difference between your rules and your preferences. Having both are okay, unless they prohibit you from living the kind of life you want to be living. Getting curious on what’s a preference and what’s a rule, and asking yourself why you have those for both or either of those for particular activities, etc. is never a bad idea. It will bring you clarity and open you up to what else is possible.
