Would love to know if you have any coaching/builds for my June goal:
Transform my relationship with avoidance: (in order to get my three writing projects completed)
How it is now: I do procrastinate, sometimes is useful and sometimes it isn’t! I do avoid calling people back or sitting down to write if I feel anxious. This can have really bad affects on my nervous system and work! Sometimes I chastise myself for procrastinating which in of itself is adding more stress than necessary.
How I want it to be: I want to notice avoidance, identify why it’s happening and then have tools to over come it! For example with writing, I know I am avoiding it because I fear I won’t able to do it, don’t know the solution to a problem, don’t know what I am doing. But I’m not always sure what the solution is…..
Somethings that have worked with writing procrastination are: share it with someone, set a timer, “just do ten mins”, working in company of others, thinking “easy and fun”, thinking “messy imperfect action”
Rocks: Prioritising good sleep. Also…. not sure about my other rocks because of what I have said above, I am not sure where I want to place my focus.
Answer:
I would offer that you do a bit more exploring for your goal and set something that is pulling you in the direction you want to go. Something you want to create. Avoidance is an action. Where is it coming from? Where are you noticing it? It could be very helpful to pick one area you’ve noticed the avoidance and make a goal that pushes you the the edge of what you think is possible. That will bring up all sorts of thoughts and feelings for you to work through. What do you think? What sounds a bit scary? For example: My June goal is getting one writing project done per week.
Or: My June Goal is to give myself loads of love every time I notice I’m avoiding writing.
See what you find and come back for more coaching or if you have any questions. This is of course up to you. You know you best. Trust yourself.
