Leaving my job / Starting a business

I made a decision earlier this year that I want to leave my current job for my own business. My initial plan was to wait to leave until after I got pregnant and take a maternity leave through my current job. If I leave my current job and get pregnant then I won’t have any maternity leave pay – I need to pay into insurance for 24 months before I can claim self-employed maternity leave.
I’m realising however that because pregnancy is so unpredictable, I don’t want to have the future of my work situation be entirely dependent on when I get pregnant again. My husband has a job interview for a well-paying position that if he got it would mean I would feel more financially secure to leave my job and not have maternity pay. However, again – that is me putting my planning and my future in the hands of something that is unpredictable and largely beyond my control.
So what I’d like is some coaching for how to plan for leaving my job in a way that feels financially secure & is not based on things that are beyond my control.

Answer:

Why does your brain think you can’t have your own business and a job? Do some exploring there. What are your beliefs that might be holding you back?
What if you flipped your question around to something like this: How do I create security within myself?
How much money would I need to bring in in order to leave my job?
How can I increase trust in myself and my decisions?
In the end, there is math and there is drama.  Within the drama is being a human, nervous system reactions, all our prior experiences, things people have told us, and our brain doing what brains do, and so much more!  The fun part is we get to have goals like starting our own business to bring all that up so we can look at it. See what you find as you answer some of these questions and ask your own.
