Limiting Belief – Writing Part 3

I would love to stop believing my brain. Is this as simple as questioning every thought I have? Or are there any other tactics to help with this?
If I didn’t have all this judgment about my progress so far the answer that came to mind was as simple as I would just keep going and not worry about brining it to a conclusion or tying up any loose ends. Just see how far the story can go. However I keep coming up against the thought that I haven’t written it the correct way.
I would like to upgrade some of these negative thoughts but here is where I’m a bit stuck. One that keeps coming up is ‘progress has slowed’ I think this is becoming a self fulfilling prophecy. I thought to change it to ‘I am taking my time to figure out a good ending.’ But does that new thought imply that it has to to take time because ideally I would like to pull this together quickly. Would it be more helpful to think ‘I am on the verge of a breakthrough’?

Answer:

Question the thoughts that aren’t serving you. Notice them with compassion. Just being aware that they are thoughts and not facts will be very powerful for you. You don’t have to change or fix anything. Just notice. You can also use your inner dialogue to help you. For example, when you notice a thought popping up you can say “Thanks, brain, for trying to protect me. I’ve got this.” Anotehr great question is “Who would I be without this thought?”
What do you know about you that will help you reach your goals? Make a list. It does sound like your brain is really hyper focused on time. You can ground yourself in knowing that you have everything you need to finish.
How can you support yourself in order to allow yourself the space you need? What do you need to say NO to in order to put your energy where you want to? This is all such good work. Keep going.
