Massive Action on Having Fun

I’ve worked through the questions in Maisie’s email on preparation for massive action week. My goal is to get a new job offer (at least 30% salary increase and working 4 days a week) while continuing to have fun. My rocks are to apply for jobs, self-coach, and plan fun activities with friends and family. I’ve done lots on applying for jobs – set up job searches, updated LinkedIn and CV, applied for 3 jobs so far – and done lots of self-coaching around this. So I want to concentrate on the having fun part. I am planning to look for and plan / book some activities, and get in touch with people that I haven’t seen in a while, but I’ve realised that the work here might be about mindset. I’ve done a thought download and what comes up is that I’m not sure I remember how to really have fun. It doesn’t really feel available to me anymore. That I take things too seriously. That so much has happened and I’m not carefree anymore. And I’m not sure where to take this next so would appreciate some coaching.

Answer:

What does “fun” mean to you?
Before you answer, I want you to close your eyes, take a deep breaths, and get in touch with what you imagine when you think of “fun”. How does it feel? What comes to mind?
You mentioned some things like not taking things seriously and being carefree. The goal is to get in touch with your body and what you notice in your body when you think about what “fun” means.
Another way of looking at it is to think about a time you would consider fun. That may be another way to notice how fun feels in your body. Also, when you think of something that was fun for you, why was it fun?
Fun is a feeling that comes from a thought. Once you get in tune with how that feels and what thoughts you have to create it, you will be able to choose to think of other things as fun as well. Remember, it is not what you are doing that makes it fun. It is how you think about that event or activity.
