Models – Identifying thoughts

Hello!
Following on from the model workshop, I have a question in relation to identifying thoughts. I often find that I don’t seem to have specific thoughts or sentences running through my head that lead to corresponding feelings (or at least don’t have an awareness of them), and so I jump straight to intentional models, without the insight into what led to me having a particular feeling or emotion in the first place.
This isn’t always the case, and today, after catching up on the workshop, I worked through a really helpful model from the thought ‘I’ve wasted this day’.
I wondered if you have any particular tips or advice on this? Perhaps it just requires more practice which I’m looking forward to doing anyway!
Thank you

Answer:

Great awareness. This is very common when you first start with thought work. You will notice the feeling but not know which thought it is coming from. Thought downloads are a great tool to help you start identifying what is going on in your head. The most important part is to just let everything out onto paper without judgement and without stopping. Try filling an entire page without any breaks and just see what comes up. Be curious and open.  The goal is not to change anything, just to practice noticing what’s happening in your brain. Bring anything that comes up back to ask a coach.
