Hi coaches.
Just watched the money mindset workshop, loved it, thank you. I feel like I could do a whole deep dive into money stuff and I am so ready to change my attitude toward money.
I noticed a question in the worksheet really stood out for me: what is blocking you from creating/having more money in your life?
In terms of creating more money – I have lots of daydreams of how I’d like to work for myself; or a side business to make more money – however I find I that these ideas a lot of the time are very vague and very intangible (usually have a basic idea but struggle to add much more content) I’d love to be able to sit down and stay with one idea and follow it through, but it’s almost like I can stay in the dreaming but I don’t cross over into the action. Then I notice my thoughts turn to fear / procrastination / they’re not good ideas / it’s too much work / I can’t do it alone / I don’t have the money to start this.
Hmm. Help.
Answer:
This is totally normal because your brain loves to conserve energy. It would take a nap and maintaining status quo over trying out a new side business. That sounds scary and unknown and like a lot of effort.
The trick is to be on to your brain. Now that you have the amazing model you can see that your default thinking will create a result where you stay where you are. Remember, inaction is an action. You will feel uncomfortable, but it’s familiar so your brain likes it. Where you will get some traction is to start working on an intentional model that gives you a goal to work towards.
When you create this model, your brain will come up with all the reasons you can’t do it. Just write them down. These are just obstacles. Next to each obstacle, think of a strategy to overcome it. Expect this to be uncomfortable, anything worth having is worth feeling some uncomfortable emotions for. That’s where growth happens and it’s so fun! If you knew you’d be successful at any side business you chose….what would you do?
