Hi coaches,
I am building a new platform/project and I am really excited. The topic really interests me and I have multiple books, articles, podcasts lined up to read/listen to. I am excited when I find them, look forward to reading it, but I often find myself not talking the action of actually reading. If I finally do, I am mostly really interested and happy I did. The thing is, I do read other books and articles and listen to podcasts a lot, but I often skip the ones on the topic I am working on. But I do really want to read them!
I do have some cues, but can’t get a really clear model on this. I think it has to do with thinking ‘I should’ read them. And in the coaching call about taking messy imperfect action, I became aware I have put up barriers around taking this action. I have thoughts about having to do it really well (having a pencil in hand to take notes, having to read/listen with full attention, …). It did help a bit to approach it more from a messy action view and I did listen to a few podcasts that had been in my list for months and months, and I did start a new book. But after it feels like I am stuck again. The main thing is probably I think I don’t know enough on the topic…
So, I am trying a model around the action of ‘not reading’, but I am having trouble finding the thought. I would love your input.

Why is it a problem that you don’t want to read books or listen to podcasts on your subject? That is the thought that is bringing up a lot of discomfort. Humans do one thing….what they want. Even though you believe you want to read/listen, your actions say otherwise.
Why is it a problem that you don’t know enough on the topic yet?
Answering these two questions and owning your answers will help you see what’s happening now. This could be really great information for you to get unstuck. You also could simply set a goal to tackle your list, make a plan and commit to it. What do you think would be most useful?
