Practitioner Support

Hi there. 5 months into my TFC journey and cycle tracking, I am ready to seek professional advice to better support my health.
I have been diagnosed with PCOS for ~10 years. I now see there are additional areas of my life that I would like a practitioner’s input on:
– Severe low moods in the week leading up to my period (PMDD?)
– Anxiety is there every day, just more heightened during certain weeks in my cycle than others (I’ve done psychotherapy, should I explore a psychiatrist’s assessment?)
– Sensory sensitivities have and continue to play a major role in my life and relationships. I can sometimes only regulate myself by listening to instrumental music. I live with roommates and the sound of chewing, utensils/plates, etc. particularly right when I wake up dysregulates me and I often choose to isolate in my room to calm down and come back to a grounded place. (Should I prioritize seeing an occupational therapist to get an Autism assessment?)
I know I have to make this decision by myself, and would appreciate input on the model I’m choosing to get myself there:
Desired Result: I gain more understanding on my health and learn to better support my wellbeing.
C: I have options on which practitioner to reach out to.
T: I can start with the path that feels most urgent/important, and then experiment until I get to a stage where I feel more educated about my health.
F: Relief that I don’t have to figure out the “right answer”
A: TBD, but hoping its to reach out to a practitioner.

Answer:

First, I think this model looks like a great place to start! I would offer that from relief, you’re likely able to take action or make a decision without mind drama. It could also be, take deep breaths, relax shoulders…what don’t you do when you feel relieved because you know you can start with the path that feels the most urgent?
A better question to ask might be this: if your desired result is to gain more understanding on your health, what actions would make that possible and, oppositely, what would you not do to make this possible? What feeling would you inspire these actions? What thoughts create that feeling? It’s okay to have a few different models, even if the desired result is the same. What do you think? What do you discover? Come back with what you realize and for more coaching. Also, please join us tomorrow for the first Model Call with Casey for more help with this model!
