Pregnancy and autoimmune diseases

I am in the 2nd Trimester of my first pregnancy and I have a chronic illness, the most debilitating symptoms being migraine. The first trimester everything flared up. Now I am in the 2nd Trimester and my symptoms are in remission. Which sounds great on paper, but I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about why this remission is happening and what can I do to replicate it. And what will happen in the 4th trimester ? There are a lot of uncertainties but I am carrying around this strong fear for the future and recently it exploded. How can I become more comfortable with the uncertain road ahead?

Answer:

When we find ourselves in situations where we’re worrying about the future, it’s helpful to get very clear on what it is we are worried about. Sometimes just the act of writing this list can take some of the punch out of what we are worrying about, and it allows us to identify what needs or deserves our attention the most. Write down the answers to these questions: What am I afraid of? Why am I worried? Notice what thoughts and emotions come up for you as you write these answers out. It’s okay to be having these worries and concerns. They are valid and deserve to be heard and explored.
Now, imagine considering the rest of your pregnancy a time to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for the 4th trimester so that you are equipped to weather the changes that come with bringing a baby into your family. How does your brain and body respond to having this option? If it’s a warm response, what do you want to do to lovingly prepare yourself physically, mentally and emotionally for the changes that you anticipate may come during that time of your life?
