Hi coaches,
I am in charge of recruiting two new apprentices at the company I work for and I am struggling with it. For this term (starting August 2025), I have offered two candidates a job and both have decided to start with another company instead.
It feels like the window for hiring someone will start to close soon, and this is the first time I have not yet hired at least one person at this time in the year. I am also still a little caught up on a person that I hired quitting before they even started.
I know this is not actually personal and all of this doesn’t mean anything about me.
But all of this is triggering old fears of not being chosen and people turning away, if they have other options as well as fears about people (my colleagues) turning against me, if I don’t ‘perform’ (aka can’t manage to hire two people, as planned, or hire people, but they turn out to be not a good fit.)
Thanks for your help.
Answer:
If you’re feeling triggered, address what you need to with your nervous system as you continue towards your goal. You can spend a lot of time and energy worrying that you won’t get two good fit people by August, or spinning in your thoughts about the ones who chose another company, or you can just get back to work.

What do you need to do now in order to fill the spots you have by the time you start?
What information have you gathered from what you’ve done already that can assist you in moving forward?
