Reset without Restriction

I really enjoyed the reset replay and the Autumn workshop and am wanting support with the following which is something I find so tricky..
In the past 2 years I have followed a ‘diet’ that took 8 months to get me to lose 4 stone of excess weight and get to a healthier place. Since then it has become a restriction – binge cycle weekly so I have maintained my weight but returned to patterns of dieting that I have had for 20 years with other diets. I want to reset and release this as it isn’t working for me and I am so uptight, physically and emotionally suffering each week as a result. Lots of behaviours that I want to let go of but I find it hard to maintain my weight without e.g. having very strict ‘rules’ , intensive tracking of what I eat, weighing of self and food and using social media as a way to be ‘accountable’ and spend a lot of hours looking at and comparing to others in terms of food, eating, bodies, before and afters etc. It is all very ‘tight’ and restrictive and not from a place of self love. Have you any advice of where to start. I have been doing thought downloads but am not confident with the models yet. Thank you xxx

Answer:

It seems like you have some very keen awareness about what you’re doing that doesn’t work and why, which is a wonderful starting place. I like to think about the journeys we take as we set goals like we’re looking at a map. It’s easier to pick a route to get from Point A to Point B if you know where Point B is, right? So, let’s define your Point B first.
What do you think your relationship with food/eating/dieting would look like and feel like if you were approaching your A line with self-love? Get as specific as you can – what would you be thinking about yourself? How would you be feeling? What would hard days look like? What would you be doing and not doing if you were in this place?
When you have a clear idea of where you’d like to go, then you can think about what smaller steps you’d need to take to get there…the stops along the route if you will. Come back to us when you’re ready for more coaching.
