I am new to the collective today 🙂 I journal every day and one thing that came up for me this morning is that I never seem to stick to my plans. I work full time and I am trying to set up a business in nutritional therapy after qualifying last year but it seems impossible. I created an ideal week which I keep changing ALL the time. It’s almost like I get inpatient when something doesn’t work but instead of trying it for longer I give up straight away and try to find a new way of doing it. It feels very overwhelming.
Examples are areas where I feel stuck:
1) I set a goal at work in Jan this year to use LinkedIn learning for my self development and I haven’t started it yet. I have a time block in my calendar for Friday afternoon but it never gets done.
2) I schedule time blocks to focus on my nutrition business Tuesday and Thursday mornings but I end up maybe doing an hour or so (or not start at all) as I feel distracted by all the other things that need to be done that day like the online food shop/chores etc. Does this mean it isn’t important to me and that its more important to have a clean decluttered house etc? I struggle to fit everything in even with those mornings off.
3) I have tried countless ways to manage all of my tasks and plan my life/days and I give up on all of them – I must have tried about 10 different planners, recently started using evernote and the GTD method to manage tasks and I am still writing notes EVERYWHERE!
4) Menu planning– I spend hours doing this every week before the food shop and then I seem to end up changing it anyway
5) Week planning – I want to spend time planning my week as I feel it will make my life easier and less overwhelming but do not seem to prioritise doing this, perhaps because I don’t have a good system in place.
Writing all this down makes me sound like a crazy woman 🙂 I would love to find a way to feel more at peace with what I need to do and to be able to focus on what is important.
Thanks

Welcome! We are so glad you are here. You don’t sound crazy, you sound like a human with a brain. Many humans believe that peace comes from doing all the things perfectly according to what we think that looks like. But the beauty of thought work is you can have peace right now, today, without changing what you are doing at all. You seem to have tried many methods outside of you like the planners and apps, etc. I would offer to you to try looking inside of you and using compassion and self trust.
Let’s just play with this for fun. Your list right now does not sound very fun. What if you believed that your way is the perfect way and all the people with the planners are doing it wrong? How could that be true? How could you plan your life in a way that works with your uniqueness? Your only goal is to be the you-est you that you can be. Really open up and journal this. See what comes up and bring your questions or models back for more coaching.
