The hustle

My brain turns everything into a to-do list. Things I start for my wellbeing like yoga classes, over time morph into a thing I ‘have’ to do and then I feel dread when a class is approaching. I think there is a fear of failure behind this, and a thought that if I stop, then I won’t start up again. I’m not sure what intentional thought to focus on to calm myself. I want to be kinder to myself but the stress response is intense.

Answer:

Before we get into the intentional model, let’s examine this unintentional one.
C: Yoga Class
T: I have to do this
F: Dread
S: Where does this show up in your body?
A: What do you notice yourself doing when you feel dread?
R: What result do you create when you take these actions? Check in with whether it’s connected to your T line.
C: Yoga Class
T: If I stop I will never start again
F: Fear
S: Where does this show up in your body?
A: What do you notice yourself doing when you feel dread?
R: What result do you create when you take these actions? Check in with whether it’s connected to your T line.
What do you notice about how you show up when you’re in these models? What would it mean if you never started something again? Let’s start there and learn a little more about why your brain feels like it needs to protect you.
