I guess somehow it was but if we still had the apartment I would perhaps not be living in Barcelona right now because my bf decided that he actually does not need to travel too far for a chance and stay in Barcelona which is not too far from where I’m based. Originally he wanted to travel to Mexico. Having him across the ocean would be much more difficult and with my work’s timezones I would not have traveled (also financially) so we would be away for who knows how many months in the challenging stage in my life (writing a dissertation) so actually it was better in the end. I’m realizing all I actually want is to be with my bf and spend quality time together. That apartment represents some of our best times, I think that’s why I am so attached to that place. (Plus it’s an amazing apartment with its big windows and great view if you work from home as I do 🙂 )
I think it’s time for me to focus on what I have now instead of being stuck in the past and enjoying our precious time together. There is a worry that now that he doesn’t have his apartment in M, he doesn’t feel like M is his home where I’m supposed to live until I get my citizenship. There was a fear that we can make it work when we’re not in the same city most of the time. Although I’m officially living in France even now but I’m 5 hours ride, living in Spain in reality. Citizenship will take some time so I can live with my bf wherever he is most of the year and can have my own time in France for a couple of months of the year. So in the end everything worked out and will work out.
