Understanding and Managing Anger and dog/child care – Part 8

In my body i feel the sense of calm in my chest/lungs like a release of tension, and in my navel/ belly like a self containment, in my back arms and legs as a release let go no tension.
The emotion that creates these sensations within me? Assurance, lightness, kindness, compassion.
And the thoughts that create that emotions can be… In the general context of generating calm: It’s okay. If it doesnt matter in 5 years it doesnt matter. In the specific context of tending to my overwhelm before engaging with the source of the overwhelm: i can looknafter myself right now and deal with this later.

Yes, well done! These thoughts and feelings and sensations are great – simple and straightforward. How can you keep these thoughts in an easy-to-access space in your brain, home or phone? How will you call on these when you notice yourself in your original UM? How can you plan for imperfection and being human within this?
It’s okay to have UMs and to be in them – but it’s never helpful to beat ourselves up for it. We’re creatures of habit, and that’s not a problem unless we make it one!
