Uplevelling – Feeling like a failure

I did a bit of journaling around the questions Maisie gave us and the thing that really stood out for me that I want to up level is operating from a place of feeling like a failure. I feel like this is always there in the background and drives how I behave.
This is mostly in a career sense and not so much in other areas of my life and my career is where I feel particularly stuck.
I think changing this would really help with my other goals for the year – believing in myself/facing rejection.
What I’m struggling with is how to upgrade my self concept. Do I need to start thinking and acting like a successful person? What thoughts does a successful person even think? I feel like a bit of a fraud trying to make myself feel successful. Is this a ladder thought situation or is there a way to start from a more neutral place?

Answer:

It sounds like the first step is getting clear about what upleveling from feeling like a failure would mean? It sounds like, from your first pass, it would mean that you feel successful. Is this the only possible outcome? What else might be a level up from feeling like a failure in your career?
If it is the most desirable next level, get clear on what success means to you in your career. What would it look and feel like on the inside? What would it look and feel like on the outside?
You get to define what success looks like. Period.
