Hi coaches,
I’ve just relistened to the recent podcast episode about evolving your self concept, and to get started I’ve written a list of statements that are accurate and not negative as a starting point.
These include things relating to my skills and expertise, things relating to my hobbies and also that I am someone who takes care of myself by eating mostly nutritious food and moving my body regularly.
I’m not really sure how to go about deciding how to design and intentionally evolve my self concept, as there’s loads of stuff I could pick, and there’s no way I can remember all of it. The uplevelling questions in the email at the start of this week revealed self concept relating to my work as a common theme, so do I try to identify the limiting beliefs that impact me in work and flip the script on these? This would look something like
I am someone who uses my voice / is listened to
I am someone who approaches challenges strategically
I am someone who makes requests of others to tackle challenges together
So to actually evolve my self concept, do I keep practicing these thoughts until they are fully integrated into how I show up in work and other areas of my life and I have gathered evidence for how they are true?
Answer:
What do you think would work best for you? Is there another area of your life you feel you have evolved in that can be an example of what’s possible?
As you move forward, start with one thing. Be specific. It really doesn’t matter what you pick. Everything you learn will be applicable to other areas.
Since your brain likes creating a strategy, what does your inner wisdom say about uplevelling your self concept?
